Everyday Speech is a leader in Social-Emotional Learning. Primarily a teaching solution for public schools, our Social-Emotional Learning Platform (SELP) provides educators with curriculum materials for students of ALL ages across special education and general education classes. Our curriculums teach students the strategies and life skills they need to regulate their emotions, solve problems, cope with the stresses of modern life, and interact with the world around them. Our platform is used by 25,000+ educators at public schools and private educational institutions around the world.

Everyday Speech is right for you if:

You care about making a positive impact.

End each day knowing that your work had a direct impact on the well-being of hundreds of thousands of at-risk students across the world. Project success means more than just shipping features – it means improving the lives of students and educators

You value being a part of a company that takes care of its team.

Not only do we have extremely happy team members, we also have incredible perks. Participate in our health/wellness and retirement benefit offerings, and between having every other Friday off (3-day weekends!) after you’ve been with us for 90 days, plus our 3 weeks of PTO, 8 fully-customizable chosen holidays, and a sick policy that focuses on your wellness and healing, you’re looking at 50+ days off a year – that elusive work-life balance is an actual thing here.

You want to work for a true, remote-only company.

We’ve never had an office and never will. Our team is spread across 8 countries and 4 continents. We take remote work seriously and know how to support a distributed team. We give you the flexibility to work in a way that’s best for you, but still have high standards and accountability.

You want to join a startup that is seeing massive growth.

We’ve expanded from 5 to 60 full-time team members in just 4 years! As a fully bootstrapped company, our growth is organic and sustainable. Our focus is delivering value to students and educators, not paying back investors.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage our product development pipeline, overseeing multiple tracks and ensuring efficient project flow across PMs, Designers, Engineers & Stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Engineering and Product Director to implement Product Management tools and methodologies that facilitate the work of the team.
  • Bridge the gap between Product Management theory and the realities of a fast growing startup.

As a member of the Product Department, the Senior Product Manager will be responsible for the effective management of our product pipeline. This includes having broad project oversight of the work of the 3 Product Managers on the team, providing redundancy for PMs and employing systems thinking to identify overlaps in their work. Beyond individual projects, you’ll be responsible for implementing new methodologies and tools (ex. Scrum and Jira) that make the work of the team more efficient. Once the process is built out, the Senior PM will be responsible for operational compliance for all steps of the product build process (Process Czar). Lastly, the Senior PM will be responsible for running product stand-ups and prioritization meetings to ensure the department of 16 has total alignment.

We’ve scaled quickly as a company, which has left gaps in our Product Development process. We’re looking for somebody to come in and add a layer of organizational maturity to our ambitious and rapidly growing product organization.

Skills: Product management, Scrum methodologies, strategic systems thinking, team coordination, technical spec writing, cross-functional communication, time management, task delegation.

In the short term (the first 3 months), you’ll get up to speed quickly on our existing pipeline and start to diagnose the challenges. The team is ambitious, hard working and excited to learn, but up until now is missing the framework needed to truly reach their potential.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Quickly getting up to speed on our existing waterfall processes and making suggestions on potential process changes and new tools (ex. Jira) we can use to become more efficient.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager of Engineering, Lead Infrastructure Engineer and Product Director to understand how to best support the engineering team.
  • Facilitate the work of the 3 Product Managers on the team, helping them to coordinate dependencies and plan their immediate projects.

The work you do will have a direct impact on the well-being of hundreds of thousands of at-risk students across the country and the world.

In the Long term, you will own the product pipeline, creating guidelines and processes that operate without reliance on any one individual. Serve as a leader on the Product Team, the person that individuals go to with the toughest process decisions and questions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with the Senior Manager of Engineering and Lead Infrastructure Engineer to create an robust estimation system that provides accurate estimates of projects but also provides the engineering team with autonomy.
  • Work with other departments to facilitate project communication and spec handoffs. This includes creating workflows and templates that ensure product requirements are communicated early and clearly.
  • Work with the Director of Product to organize the work of the product team around the school year calendar and our own internal Operational Calendar.

What We’re Looking For:

This role is right for you if…

You have at least 5 years of Product Management experience and are ready for the next challenge

We’re looking for someone who can bring prior experience from an established product organization. Our product team has doubled in size over the past year, so we’re looking for somebody who can hit the ground running due to past experience.

You are an expert in building processes and systems

Rather than putting out fires, you put your focus into preventing fires in the first place. You have strong gap-detection skills and are an expert at building systems that allow people to do their best work. You are skeptical of buzzwords and the latest trend in product management — instead you see Product Management Methodologies as a means to a larger goal.

You are ambitious, pragmatic and not afraid to lead projects

We believe in giving everyone autonomy. You won’t feel like a cog in a machine at Everyday Speech. From day 1, you’ll have opportunities for personal and professional growth.

You’re a natural communicator

Whether it is through written messages, project specifications, or over Zoom meetings, you convey your ideas clearly and with intention.

You want to work with a close-knit team of talented professionals

You’ll be surrounded by a top-tier team of designers, developers, and creative talents.

Experience in/have:

  • At least 5 years experience working within an established product development organization, serving as Product Manager. A technical background is a major plus, but not required.
  • A strong knowledge of Scrum methodologies and the science of Product Management. Significant experience working closely with Designers and developers in an agile environment.
  • The ability to think on your feet and solve complex problems independently. A strength in leading in the spirit of collaboration and support.
  • A dedication to process – first bringing in a new process based on industry best practices, then continually iterating on that process based on feedback and the outputs of the team.
  • An understanding of API documentation and development best practices to answer questions for engineers on the team.
  • A close eye for detail, never letting project contradictions or inconsistencies cause project delays.
  • Nice to have: A background in visual/interaction design.
